As a trauma specialist I will in collaboration with you develop a bespoke treatment plan to release you from the distress of trauma and help you to understand and overcome the symptoms left over from your trauma.
I am trained trauma specialist using different theories and practices such as Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) Emotional Freedom Therapy (EFT), Trauma informed Coaching including Poly-vagal Theory and the Internal Family Systems (IFS) all backed up by research and neuroscience.
Trauma is an event in a person's life, the suddenness, unexpectedness which cannot be avoided, which caused you to feel terrified, isolated, trapped, helpless and out of control, once the event is over it can leave an imprint within our minds and bodies, affecting our everyday life and functioning.
Complex trauma can occur if you experience repeated distressing events in life or from work (Police/Blue Light Services/Military to name a few), these cam be historical, life threatening events such as birth complications, childhood trauma/abuse, profound loss (death, house/country move, etc.), physical, mental, and emotional abuse, neglect, sexual abuse, and rape, again just to name a few.
Trauma can also cause Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), This can occur if you experience a range of persistent emotional problems for longer than four weeks, these symptoms can include flashbacks and nightmares, intrusive and distressing images feelings sensations etc, hyper vigilance always on the alert and looking out for danger, waves of physical anxiety such as shaking nausea breathlessness low mood, and You may also start using unhealthy coping strategies to numb these emotions such as drinking use of drugs an eating disorder or Disordered eating.
